Why choose Microfibre Cloths?

First and the foremost for those who do not know what the fuss is all about, microfibre actually refers to the single fibres in the cloth that are finer than 1 denier. This equates approximately to a single strand of silk. Most of the cloths that are used in the automotive industry have microfibres that range between 0.1 and 0.3 denier. This is supposed to be finer than human hair.

These cloths are made of a synthetic blend of polyester, that makes up most of the structure, and polyamide that improves absorption as well as density. Single fibres are split into extremely fine ones during the manufacturing process and woven into different constructions. These include, for example, closed or twisted loop, waffle etc. Each of these constructions have different attributes that make them perfect for certain tasks.

Microfibre cloths, thanks to their split fibres, have good cleaning and drying abilities. A split microfibre strand comes with a cross section which increases its surface area, improving its ability to lift away fine particles. As these fibres run across a dry or wet surface, it can easily pick up fine particles and water. With the use of microfibre cloths, you will not have the residual water stains that are usually left behind after the use of a normal cloth.

Microfibres are also effective in the cleaning of LCD screens and the like by simply dry dusting it, especially compared to a cotton cloth. A microfibre cloth tends to hold onto dust, and not just move it around like a cotton cloth will normally do. Microfibre cloths also come with a certain positive static charge which physically attracts and holds onto negatively charged dust. So if you are looking for a thorough clean a good microfibre cloth is something that you must look for.
